Jen Randall

I suppose I should share a little bit about myself! After living south of Boston for the last 5 years, my family and I have finally relocated back to our home state, and recently purchased a home in Simsbury, CT. My husband (Mike) and I are extremely excited to be "home", and we look forward to creating beautiful new memories here with our daughter, Hunter, and of course our 10 year old Boston terror...I mean, *terrier*, Bella!

As a photographer, I specialize in weddings, boudoir, lifestyle/portraiture, and event photography, though lately I have also been working and traveling with businesses, which has been a new and exciting change of pace for me. I absolutely love meeting and working with new people, traveling for weddings or other photo gigs, and I thrive upon the myriad of human connections and adventures that photography so often brings my way. I am a photojournalistic/documentary style wedding photographer, meaning I love to capture things candidly and organically, as they happen, and prefer to stay away from posed photos, which I find lack any kind of authenticity and real emotion. Ah, emotions! It may be the Pisces in me (we tend to be  emotional dreamers!), but capturing those candid, raw and intimate moments between a couple SO in love on their wedding day, sends chills down my spine! I LOVE photography, especially wedding photography. I mean, not just the end result either. I truly love the whole process from the time we first meet to discuss what is going to make your day truly represent YOU, to the day when that smile and wave of giddiness comes over me as I hit the send button for your completed images. I throw myself into all of it, because the only thing more special to me than witnessing beautiful things is being a part of it, and I'm so very grateful to be a part of all of it. I mean all of it too...

My clients aren't just clients to me. They become friends, almost immediately. I know firsthand that wedding planning can be stressful at times. Now, some couples LOVE the planning. They are the types that had their wedding completely planned out from the time they were 11! Then there's the rest of us! It's a lot of work, and often times couples are working a full time job on top of it. It's a lot to take on, and a ton of decisions to make. I get it! When desired, I am there to help every step of the way, and that includes giving my (honest!) opinion when asked which bridesmaid dress I like better, to helping pick out flowers, discussing hair/makeup styles (btw, I used to be a makeup artist and have a background in wedding makeup, so I LOVE talking all things makeup!!), and even giving advice or letting you vent about your mother in law to-be  (I mean, YOU love your MIL, of course, but, well, you know..for those other ladies that just need to vent a little!) Whatever it is, I'm here...unless it's 1am, or MadMen is on, in which case, you're on your own, but hey, we can certainly continue our convo again in the morning!  :)

Okay, getting back to my work. As I mentioned, my style of shooting is very candid and unobtrusive, and very photojournalistic. My editing style is clean,  film-inspired, and timeless. I prefer to be behind the scenes, (somewhat like a little photo ninja), so nothing distracts the two of you from living in the moment. I am so inspired by raw, genuine and honest emotion, and I strive to capture those authentic moments and that meaningful connection on your wedding day. I am there to tell a story, and not just any story, but to capture and convey YOUR story as a couple, and the essence of who you are. From the time you're getting ready, to the second your eyes meet for the first time, to the moment you're first introduced as spouses,  and all the way up until that last dance as the lights go off, with that look in your eyes as you are so focused on each other that you don't even realize everyone has already gone home. I'm there, and I am capturing all these moments, and even better, the moments *in between the moments*. Not only am I am telling your story, but I'm preserving these memories, so that one day you can look back to that one photo, and it all comes rushing back like it was yesterday. And I am so honored and privileged to be a part of it all!

I could go on and on, and if you'd like to chat more, I would LOVE to discuss it all! From more about my style of shooting and my beloved editing process, to my love of natural light and dislike for flash (and my techniques for night shooting!),  I could get really nerdy and chat for days! Plus, I LOVE chatting about all things wedding related, so feel free (and by "feel free", I mean, please DO)  send me pics of your dress, shoes, makeup look, wedding decor, flowers, etc, and let's chat!

When it comes down to it, I love weddings and I love what I do. Most of all, I love the couples I meet, and am grateful to be a part of their day and honored to tell their story. If you think we might be a good fit, and would like to chat more and see some recent weddings or other work, or you want me to run you through a typical wedding with me, see my package info, or simply have any questions or want to chat, send me an email at JENRANDALLPHOTOGRAPHY@GMAIL.COM or call me at 860-508-4460 and let's set up a time to chat, meet, or skype! I would LOVE to hear from you and would love a chance to tell YOUR story!
